How this site is funded
Wait₿utTime is free and will stay free. The calculator works without an account, without an email, and without permission. To keep the lights on, the site uses three small revenue streams, in roughly this order of importance:
- Lightning donations. The simplest, most aligned form. The address on the home page goes directly to the maintainer.
- Affiliate links to a short list of bitcoin services I'd recommend anyway (DCA platforms and cold-storage hardware). When you sign up through one, I may earn a small commission. You don't pay more.
- Sponsorship — if a single bitcoin company ever appears in a "supported by" slot, it's a paid placement, sold direct, no bidding network, no tracking.
Which links are affiliate
Anywhere on the site you see a link marked with "affiliate link*" or rel="sponsored", that's an affiliate link. Today these include:

- Bull Bitcoin — DCA, non-KYC option
- Coldcard — air-gapped hardware wallet
I only link to services I'd recommend to a friend. If a service stops being good, the link goes.
The no-tracking promise
Wait₿utTime ships zero analytics, no Google scripts, no Meta pixels, no Plausible, no PostHog, no fingerprinting. The only network calls the site makes are loading its own CSS and JavaScript. Outbound affiliate links use rel="noopener nofollow sponsored"; once you click and leave, what happens on the partner's site is up to them — read their policy.
Your inputs (age, relationships, FIRE numbers) live in the URL fragment and your browser only. Nothing is sent to me unless you choose to share the link.
Conflicts of interest
I hold bitcoin. Obviously. The entire calculator is an argument for low time preference, which is also an argument for bitcoin — I think the argument is correct, but you should know my biases anyway. I do not currently hold equity in any of the companies linked above.
